Value Proposition – Roederer Estate Brut Review

I’ve been in the mood for sparkling wine lately. I really enjoy a glass before dinner as an aperitif to wake up the taste buds. I like finding tasty bottles that don’t necessarily require a celebratory environment to be enjoyed, and the Roederer Estate Brut couldn’t fit the bill any better.

This could very well be as inexpensively as it gets to Champagne in California. It has all of that yeasty, toasty richness that we have all come to love from the wines of Champagne. Some notable points that surely contribute to the admirable character of the Roederer Estate Brut:

  • It is aged a minimum of two years on the lees (yeasts).
  • Roederer Estate sources all of it’s fruit from entirely estate-owned vineyards.
  • Little to no malolactic fermentation occurs to ensure the freshness and precision that is characteristic of Louis Roederer’s wines.
  • Recently recognized as Wine World Champion U.S. by the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships (CSWWC) in September of 2014.
  • The producers of the Roederer Estate Brut are also responsible for one of the most expensive and highly sought after wines in the world: Cristal Champagne.

The Roederer Estate Brut is a classy, tasteful execution in the value sparkling wine category. Fans of sparkling wine will surely benefit from Jean-Claude Rouzaud’s decision to produce a California sparkling wine in the style of his families tradition at Champagne Louis Roederer.

How can you go wrong with a sparkler readily available nationwide from retailers under $20 that shares DNA with Cristal Champagne? The answer is that you can’t. So if you’re on the fence about picking up a bottle of the Roederer Estate Brut, please allow me to gently nudge you in the right direction…you won’t be disappointed!

This is such a great find! I love bubbles, but find it difficult to splurge on much more expensive Champagne. I love the price point, here! I think I just found my new go-to. Thanks!

      Joanne,

I hope the Roederer Estate Brut does become your go to Sparkler and I’m so glad I was able to steer you in that direction. I also have a hard time justifying spending significantly more for a great bottle of Champagne when wines like this exist at such great prices. This really is a terrific bottle and I’m personally going to stock up on it when I see it next!
